Indonesian FMCG industry are not significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

The trend of FMCG in Indonesia is very positive. In 2020, this industry is classified as one of the areas less affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This is suspected to be due to a shift in consumer behavior who prefers to shop in the marketplace. This trend is also followed by industry players, so they prefer to sell their goods there.

In an interview conducted by Paper.id with Varend Pietra Canny (Senior Trade Marketing Manager of PT. Mondelez International), there are several types of products that have become popular during the pandemic, such as personal care products, herbal and health products, food and so on.

This change was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic which focuses on personal health and preventive measures that can be taken with hand sanitizers. Seeing this, consumers prefer to buy goods in large quantities and store them for personal needs.

In addition, this changing trend can also be one of the main reasons why FMCG entrepreneurs need to prepare themselves to digitize. One of the points that can drive people is the trend of changes to the marketplace. That way, FMCG industry players can survive the changing times, especially in the competition in a very tight industry.
